“You never get a second chance to make a first impression”
Andrew Grant
In this technologically-driven world where websites have taken the place of physical storefronts, it’s important to build them well.
The question then arises,
Why is it so?
Your website will be your first impression on your clients. The experience they get while surfing will decide whether they will get back or they won’t.
When you see a sofa that is kept clean and tidy, and you see a sofa that has a pile of clothes and other stuff on it and isn’t clean, which sofa are you more likely to sit on?
You will definitely sit on the former one.
UI design creates the exact same difference.
There was an experiment that was carried out by two Japanese researchers, namely, Kuroso and Kashimura. They developed two ATM machines with the absolute same features and functions.
Both the machines were identical except for one thing, one had the screen and buttons well-arranged so it looked beautiful, and the other didn’t so it was unattractive.
Both the machines were put out to experiment and the results amazed everyone! Despite building both the machines with the same functions, users reported the attractive machine was simpler to use.
It’s a universal thing. Humans like things that are attractive and even overlook the flaws if any.
Your website will talk to people even when you won’t. It has the potential to bring in more clients and retain the existing ones. Many large corporations have now realised that a good User Interface (UI) leads to a good User Experience (UX) which in return increases sales.
Large companies spend massive amounts on making their UI unique. Having a unique UI helps you to stand out and create a memorable User Experience(UX) while surfing on your website.
Your website will be dealing with your users on your behalf 24*7. So it is important to make it comfortable and user-friendly.
Not only will you create a good user experience for one person but you will be able to create it for massive users at a time. When many people will love the experience you will definitely create your brand image for all the users.
Mid-caps and Startups shall also focus on creating a unique yet user-friendly UI to reach and retain more customers for your venture.
In these times, your UI/UX will directly define your sales. What do you think about it?
Do you agree with the importance of design or do you have a different opinion?
